About AI on AI
We are a growing team of university-linked authors exploring approaches for interacting with AI in our writing and teaching. Our start-up inquiry team moved through months of shared study of AI’s impact to generating focused questions about AI which we each addressed in individual written reflections. After preliminary analysis of those reflections using two different approaches (one with, one without AI assistance), we invited a second team to join our work as additional co-authors. Their responses to the same reflection questions became our second set of writings for analysis.
Together, we continue collaborative dialogues on how AI is shaping our own authorship and our teaching of writing.
Note about the Visual Timeline:
“To create a visual timeline of the AI project, I first used my meeting notes and related materials to compile a chronological list of key moments and milestones. I then uploaded this list, grouping each set of milestones according to project stage (brainstorming, research, drafting, publication, etc.), to ChatGPT. Using ChatGPT, I prompted the engine to turn that chronology into a condensed horizontal timeline. I chose AI for this task because it offered an efficient way to organize, group, and visually present the project’s development. I maintained authorial agency over the product by selecting the milestones, revising the language, and determining the final emphasis, while ChatGPT served only as a collaborative tool for arrangement, condensation, and presentation.”

As of summer 2026, our website is both supplement and extension of an essay we are submitting/have submitted to an academic journal for consideration. Many elements in our current website language withhold specific information now so as to facilitate anonymized peer review of the essay. In the future, we hope to provide citation information so that website visitors will be able to find the essay in a published article form.
